NANOEXC2004
WORKSHOP ON
Theory and modeling of electronic excitations in Nanoscience
(general information)
OVERVIEW:
We aim to organize a three-day conference devoted to the
theory and modeling of electronic excitations in nanostructured
materials, in order to assess the latest achievements and the
perspectives for first-principles theoretical methods in this field.
The workshop will offer the opportunity to discuss open questions, to
compare the drawbacks and advantages of different approaches, and to
present pioneering applications to real materials of current
experimental interest. In particular, we plan to give emphasis to
recent successful siimulations in the field of nanoscience (nanotubes,
quantum dots/wells, superlattices, surfaces, molecular electronics,
bio-electronics and interdisciplinary fields like medical applications)
as well as to theoretical advances related, for instance, to the
efficient and accurate solution of the Bethe-Salpeter equation for
optical spectra.
In order to
achieve the objectives of communication and the
general style of this meeting will be informal with sufficient time for
discussion. Due to
this reason, we intend to limit the participation to less than 70
people.
If you are interested in attending the Workshop, please send an email
to nanoexc2004@roma2.infn.it.
A preliminary program will be available as soon as possible in
this site.
The workshop will be held in the Hotel
"VILLA DEL
MARE" in Acquafredda di Maratea, Basilicata, Italy.
This hotel (http://www.costadimaratea.com/villadelmare/),
situated
between Sapri and Maratea, about 200 Km South
of Naples, has a long experience in hosting
congresses and scientific
meetings and will offer the opportunity
of an intense contact between the
participants in an informal atmosphere.
The workshop will start on the morning
of
20th of
Semptember and will end on 22nd evening.
The dates of 19 th and
23nd are considered for arrivals and departures.
For who will wish to have a free day to visit
the beautiful regional area and for who will have to attend the
Nanoquanta Internal Meeting there is the possibility to arrive on 18th
afternoon booking an additional night in the
Registration form
Each day of the
workshop will be divided into a morning session (9:00-13:00) and an
afternoon session
(16.30-19:30). Invited talks are allocated 30 minutes,
plus additional 10
minutes reserved for discussion. Contributed talks will last 15
minutes,
plus five minutes for discussion.
There will be an evening poster session on
Monday 20th, and a
focussed round-table on Tuensday 21th afternoon.
Some
bursaries for European Ph.D. students and postdocs will be
available, see here
for more information.
A living
allowance will be available to invited (non NANOQUANTA)
participants.
Do no hesitate to contact any of the organisers if you have any query and/or question
